Ponderizing: Mosiah 3:19

In last October’s LDS conference, Devin G. Durrant, first counselor in the Sunday School Presidency, introduced the idea of “ponderizing”! Since he’s the expert, I’ll let him do the explaining:

“So what does it mean to ponderize? I like to say it’s a combination of 80 percent extended pondering and 20 percent memorization.

There are two simple steps:

First, choose a verse of scripture each week and place it where you will see it every day.

Second, read or think of the verse several times each day and ponder the meaning of its words and key phrases throughout the week (read his talk here).”

What a great idea, right?! Since hearing about it, I have been trying to ponderize weekly. Now I’m not saying I have been perfect at it… I definitely have NOT, but the weeks that I do it, my thoughts are uplifted and I use my time better. At times when my thoughts normally wander randomly, I am able to ponder a scripture which allows me to be stay more focused on Christ. Continue reading “Ponderizing: Mosiah 3:19”

My Happiness Project

A while ago, my awesomely cool friend, Alexis, told me about the book “My Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin. Now I’ll admit I’m only halfway through, but it has already been totally inspiring!

Basically the author realizes that while she is a happy person, she isn’t as happy as she could be. She sets off on a year long happiness project to work each month on different things that will make her happier.

{Clean Eating- my new found obsession}

Clean Eating

So anyone who knows me will probably read the title and think…

Ya right!! This chick… clean eating?

And seriously I would completely agree with you. One time in college I tried to go off sweets and I thinkI lasted like two days.

So ya, me + clean eating doesn’t add up…

But something weird happened and lately I have become OBSESSED! Now that doesn’t mean I’m doing it, but I’m learning more and I have to start somewhere, right?!

{My First Pregnancy}

I wondered my whole life about the day I would be pregnant! I’m sure every girl thinks about it- What will I look like? How much weight will I gain (hahaha)? Will it be easy for me to get pregnant? Will I be really sick? etc etc… you just wonder!

Now I’m nearing the end of my pregnancy and have experienced all but 6 weeks and it seems absolutely crazy!!

{Good Men}

*Warning: sappiness coming your way*

A few nights ago, I came home from work really late and Joe was already asleep. I (noisily) got ready for bed, hoped into bed, messed around with my phone for a while (probably shining the light on him a million times), changed positions over and over again to get comfortable, pulled some of the covers away from him so I could have more, and then finally was comfy and ready to go asleep. After ALL that, Joe (now semi awake) reached over, grabbed my hand and said “Goodnight, I love you” and went back to sleep.

I laid there holding his hand and wondering what my response would have been in his situation. I probably would have said something rude like “geez, could you be any louder?!” or maybe I would have grumpily turned away from him when he got into bed (I’ve been known to be a little evil when half asleep).
